FAQ PAGE

This is a collection of the most frequently asked questions I receive from my community and potential clients who are thinking about working with me.

If you have questions not listed here, you can email me at spministries@rebekahjosann.com.

What is the difference of coaching from Therapists, Counselors, Psychiatrists, and Therapy?

This is a question I receive often and it is a good one! Coaching is a highly effective method of working with you to focus on forward/future movement. (Think of a sports coach or a business coach.) Counseling focuses on deeply processing the past. Psychology and psychiatry deals with pathology.

Coaching is partnering with you in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires you to maximize your personal and professional potential, which is particularly important in today’s uncertain and complex environment.

Professional coaching focuses on setting goals, co-creating for solutions, and working with you to help you manage personal change.

Examples would be: Mindset shifting, creating actionable realistic goals together and helping you work towards them, strategies and steps that can help you build better habits, time management, health, sleep, work habits, etc.

Since I work in identity as a trauma informed coach, my focus is to help you move forward from your place of living in the past, by not focusing on your past, but connecting pieces of it to your future to help you stay on track to growth. If we need to address deeper past with therapy for stuck areas, then I will help you find a good fit with my collaboration network efforts with mental and medical health professionals. Especially if this was difficult for you to find a good fit in the past. This will be simultaneous along with your coaching.

If you happen to need medication to aid in the effectiveness of follow through in our coaching work, then we explore psychiatrist professionals who could assist.

I also am a huge advocate of trauma therapies for trauma symptoms that go beyond mindset shifting. I help advocate for you with your current medical professionals to find a good trauma specialist as well.

I work alongside medical professionals in their work to enhance and boost the efficiency and potential outcomes in your coaching experience with me. It is important for you to feel safe, heard, listened to, and respected by your medical professionals. I take this seriously.

What types of services do you offer?

As of now, I offer three specific types of coaching. My original classic 1:1 for an individual: Identity Recovery, a marriage relationship builder: Revitalizing Your Marriage, and a Parenting/Family Coaching Aid: "Parenting To Peace". All are currently 1:1 sessions and priced differently. Titles of these offers are subject to change in the future.

What's your specialty/area of expertise?

I mostly work with those who have trauma backgrounds, mental illness, church and faith hurt, and those wanting to achieve goals, but are lacking in life skills or struggling with executive functioning.

I am a well rounded creative coach however. If there is something you are needing outside of this scope, I can work with all types of people with all types of challenges as we work alongside medical professionals.

I do have mental health coaching training to help me better understand mental health backgrounds, however I do not practice within this scope. I will help guide you towards mental health professionals to work alongside us. Ones that will fit you.

Most of my clientele are neurodivergent and autistic, but I work and am trained to work with other neurotypes as well in life coaching.

Do you provide in person appointments or is it all online?

I only provide online appointments through Zoom, Whatsapp video, or signal video. Some clients prefer Facebook messenger, but I do try to keep privacy and confidentiality even through the tools I use. I also have a by phone option and only as needed, a chat option. I use encrypted signal messenger app if I do a chat option or encrypted Facebook messenger chat with disappearing effect so the data does not retain.

Some days you may not be able to get out of bed. I understand. On days you or I would rather not be face to face (life happens right?), we always have a phone or chat option. I deliver the same quality.

Do I pay for each individual appointment or can I pay for two or more of them at once?

My policy is coaching fees need to be paid in full before appointments begin each month, recurring at the beginning of each month through invoicing to your email or your sponsor's email. Anything different is negotiated on a case by case basis. However, I try to keep to a monthly consistent schedule.

Is this coaching faith based? If so, what faith is it based on/denomination?

I hold to a Biblical worldview, but not specific to any certain denomination. Sound doctrine and teaching from the Word of God is the bedrock foundations to my life and my coaching style. Since I work in a church and faith hurt area, I am familiar and aware how experience with denominations can lead to harm, confusion, and spiritual abuse. When we work, I will bring up Scriptures and pray with you to encourage you and as an aid and tool to my coaching. This is typical for Christian coaching models. However, if you do not have this background, I will respect where you are at.

Are you going to try to convert me?

If you are asking this question, I am assuming you may not be living a life of faith in Jesus or are hurt by the church, Christians, or the faith. I do not believe in turning away someone who is seeking assistance with your goals, but may not share my same faith. However, I do coach from a Christianity faith based place while understanding compassionately how you may view things.

I have worked with those who did not understand faith and while experiencing the coaching, came to knowledge of truth on their own. I do not believe that it is our job to convert anyone. I will share truth with you as I have come to understand it through the Gospel which is a command of the Great Commission, but ultimately it is your choice if you would like to take a chance and test God on it. The Holy Spirit is who brings about conversion. Not me.

Do you take a Christian approach to your work and if you do, what does that look like? Are you going to be sitting praying with me as a way to help?

I understand you are leery of people who claim to help, but approach coaching or help with a checklist, Christianese, prayers, or rituals and practices, but don't help you get results. You're one of many who are taking results seriously and I commend you for it!

I always pray at the beginning of every appointment with your permission. I invite the Holy Spirit in, ask God for wisdom, and may pray something specific on my heart for you. But then we address practically what is going on in your life and discuss goals, strategies, and follow up work, to build foundational blocks you practically can gain long term results in. Scripture is quoted and shared if you feel comfortable with that as part of supporting your goals.

As long as you apply what you're learning, practice the steps and frameworks, and do the follow up work, you will see results. For those who hear, but do not apply and do, there won't be results or very little results. It is up to YOU how you apply what you learn. This is also stated in my contract when you sign on as a client.

How long is each appointment?

My appointments started out an hour (what may be typical in the mental health counseling and therapy community), but my clients found an hour to be exhausting and difficult to absorb what they learned. It also was taxing on me too who is a natural introvert!

Since I reduced my appointments to 30 minutes, I found my clients retain better, absorb more effectively, and still have energy to handle what they need to in the day. The reduction of time also helps us stay organized in our thoughts, focused on what is pertinent, avoid side tracking and wandering off topic, and make better use of the time, resulting in more depth to results. This is especially helpful for those I work with who are ADHD!

Effectiveness and efficiency are two golden rules I live by!

Are my appointments with you confidential?

I abide by The Code Of Ethics and by HIPPA.

I allow chat appointments, but I try to avoid them if possible unless I can control the erasing of the data. Because I work with those who have mental illness diagnoses, I've learned to be hyper-vigilant in data protection.

What we discuss in appointments stays inside them unless it meets criteria outlined in my contract. I am required by law to be a mandatory reporter if my client becomes harmful to themselves with real threat of taking their life, that of another, or harm to children.

Do you take international clients?

Yes and no. It depends. If you are in a time zone that I can accommodate based in the USA Eastern (EST) time zone then yes. But if your operating hours available are clashing with mine (I or you are sleeping haha), then it would not be a good fit. I do have international clients and have made it work if the Lord leads me to work with you, but there has to be flexibility on your end as my flexibility is often limited. These international spots are also limited due to the time zones.

Also, you need to be able to pay in USD currency and sometimes fees are difficult with currency exchange. In this case, I might seek a USA sponsor.

Do you charge for an initial consultation?

I offer an initial free consultation by phone or video to meet you, hear why you're seeking coaching, share about the programs and my process, and discuss fees and the onboarding process. Often, this time will be extended if there is interest to move forward with the onboarding process and enrollment. Enrollment can take up to an hour after the initial 15 minute consultation. I am always working on my processes to reduce this time for both of our schedules while maintaining efficiency.

If I work with you, can I contact you 24/7 for emergency help?

Because of the number of clients I have and the ministry work I do, plus family time, I cannot be present and on call 24/7. However, I will try my best to respond to true emergencies if I do see the messages.

True emergencies are code red suicidal attempts (requiring hospital visits), police visits and domestic violence (if needing help with advocacy communication), and personal injuries requiring medical attention. All of these have happened before with clients and are considered serious emergencies.

Interpersonal family arguments, relationship disputes, and online disagreements are NOT true emergencies.

What is the price of investment?

My programs vary in investment.

While some may view services as "costs" or "expenses", when working on your emotional, spiritual, and even mental health, enrolling in programs like these are not an expense. You gain something when you invest. You lose something when you spend.

You will gain with my coaching.

I discuss investment when we book a consult as prices can change and specials will run. You can send me a message at the end of this FAQ to apply for a consult and learn current pricing.

What forms of payment do you accept?

I take zelle, venmo, and cash app preferably. If you are international, I prefer "wise" which I help you set up at onboarding.

I try to avoid credit cards due to the processing fees. If that is the only way you can pay, there will be processing fees added to your payment each month which we would discuss in a consult.

What insurances do you accept?

My coaching is a private practice to stay as free from government as possible. I do not accept insurances.

Is there a refund policy?

I do not have a refund policy. Due to the nature and structure of my program, you will receive what I promise to deliver (my contract explains more). Anyone who claims I did not deliver what I promised, either A. Is not applying the work or B. Is not taking full advantage of the program. My program is structured, designed, and tested multiple times to deliver what I claim and I am confident in the results it gives when applied.

Do you do pro bono work? If so, how can someone take advantage of that offer?

While I would love to continue to offer pro-bono work, in the past I found pro-bono leads to low commitment levels in processes and attendance.

My practice isn't at a place yet where this is possible for sustaining long term.

We do offer sponsorships, however I need sponsors in order to make coaching pro-bono for you. See "sponsorship" below.

I saw you mention "Sponsorship". Tell Me More...

Sponsorship is a unique way to have coaching fees covered by someone who wants to extend love and care to a client.

Sponsorships require qualification which is a process to determine if you're a good fit based on income, employment, and life circumstances. Not everyone qualifies.

There are two models:

Partial sponsorship: You cover half and the sponsor covers half.

Full Sponsorship: Your coaching fees are paid in full.

Sponsors as of right now are hard to come by, but we are working on ways to spread the word on the great need so more can coach with me.

The hope and design is to help someone starting in a rough place build up enough skills and resilience in coaching to eventually take over their own coaching fees and the sponsors apply to someone new. They are not meant as a long term solution. However, some cases take much longer or are impossible to change due to circumstances outside of control. In this case, we do what we can and with outside resources and inner resources, bring clients to a place of as much independence as possible.

How do I sponsor and what do I need to know?

If you're interested in joining us as a sponsor, you can email me at:

spministries@rebekahjosann.com and put in the subject line: "Sponsor Interest".

As a sponsor, you will be invoiced month to month and with the choice of your sponsee, you will know them by first name basis. You can pray for them and will be updated along the way (if your sponsee is open to sharing). Any conversations within coaching are confidential unless otherwise shared by the sponsee. I am working on additional ways you can support your sponsee through their coaching.

Thank you for your interest!

What if we disagree in an appointment? What happens next?

As humans with a variety of viewpoints, experiences, and perspectives, I do not expect us to see eye to eye on everything. If we didn't, we would be copycat robots!

As your coach, I present tools, frameworks, strategies, experiences, and training used and proven with results with my other clients if you ask for it in coaching. If you're seeking solutions, new ideas, and fresh approaches, then I would be one of many coaches who also develop their programs based on their experiences and training. We are all going to be different, but the end results is what I am focused on. Something that you can take with you for life and fall back on when needing resilience. If you work with me, you're going to get the best of me and the quality behind what I spent years perfecting.

If we are on different pages, I will seek to understand your views, we can look for compromises, and we can also look for opportunities to grow. If we still cannot find gems in the experience, then we will have a cordial discussion on whether to end services, if we truly are not the best fit for one another. No shame, guilt, or harm done. I will ask you for learning purposes and feedback purposes why services are discontinuing. However, I do ask that the same respect I give if this is the case, is the same respect returned. Boundaries still apply.

Communication is a key factor in a coaching relationship. Please communicate how you are feeling throughout the coaching process so we can address any and all concerns.

What if I decide to end services?

I understand anything can happen during coaching. If you have to end services for any reason, please allow 60 days (2 months) advanced notice before discontinuing as this affects my sole income and requires time for me to adjust.

If you are suddenly ending services because we are on different pages, I will seek to understand your views, we can look for compromises, and we can also look for opportunities to grow. If we still cannot find gems in the experience, then we will have a cordial discussion on whether to end services, if we truly are not the best fit for each other. No shame, guilt, or harm done. I will ask you for learning purposes and feedback purposes why services are discontinuing. However, I do ask that the same respect I give if this is the case, is the same respect returned. Boundaries still apply.

Do you have a group coaching option?

At this time I do not, however in the future this is one of the plans to create one.
